Description
Product Overview
The C2G Mini AI Arm is a robotics kit designed for students in grades 5–12 that focuses on manipulation, sensing, and decision-making rather than mobility. Students build a multi-jointed robotic arm and use sensors and code to control how it moves, reacts, and sorts objects.
Powered by the C2G Mini Microcontroller, the AI Arm introduces learners to a different side of robotics—one where precise control, positioning, and conditional logic are central to the experience.
Grade Level & Prerequisites
-
Recommended Grades: 5–12
-
Prior Experience: Helpful but not required
-
Ideal For: Upper elementary through high school robotics, engineering, and AI-focused STEM programs
Hardware & Actuation
The C2G Mini AI Arm uses multiple actuators and sensors to perform controlled tasks:
-
Three servo motors that actuate the arm’s joints
-
A structured arm assembly designed for repeatable movement
-
Color sensors used to detect and sort colored blocks
-
The C2G Mini Microcontroller as the central control unit
This setup allows students to explore how coordinated servo movement and sensor input work together in a robotic system.
Coding & Control (via code2grow.com)
Using Windtree’s Code2Grow platform at code2grow.com, students program the AI Arm with block-based coding tools that support more advanced logic and conditional behavior.
Students practice:
-
Controlling multiple servos simultaneously
-
Positioning the arm with intentional angles and timing
-
Using color sensor input to trigger actions
-
Writing conditional statements for sorting and decision-making
The emphasis is on understanding how sensors inform robotic actions and how code governs physical behavior.
What Students Practice
-
Coordinating multiple servo-driven joints
-
Translating sensor data into programmed decisions
-
Building and refining repeatable motion sequences
-
Debugging mechanical alignment and logic flow
-
Applying structured problem-solving to robotic tasks
