Description
Aluminum Robot
Product Overview
The Aluminum Robot is an advanced robotics platform designed for students ready to work with larger, more capable robotic systems. Built on a durable aluminum chassis, this robot introduces learners to more sophisticated robotics concepts while maintaining the hands-on assembly and programming experience found throughout the Windtree robotics lineup.
Its larger structure and metal construction provide a stable platform for experimentation, testing, and more complex robotics challenges.
Durable Aluminum Construction
Unlike smaller classroom robots built from plastic components, the Aluminum Robot features a sturdy metal chassis that supports heavier loads and more demanding experimentation. The rigid structure makes it well suited for advanced robotics courses, engineering labs, and high school STEM programs.
The larger platform also provides more space for sensors, attachments, and additional mechanical components.
Powered by the C2G Pro Microcontroller
The Aluminum Robot uses the C2G Pro Microcontroller, Windtree’s advanced robotics controller designed for more capable builds and expanded programming opportunities.
Students program the robot using code2grow.com, Windtree’s block-based coding platform that allows learners to create structured movement behaviors, respond to sensor input, and experiment with autonomous navigation.
Motorized Motion & Sensor Navigation
The robot moves using a four-wheel drive system powered by DC motors. Students can program speed, direction, and turning behavior while experimenting with how motion and mechanical design affect performance.
Integrated sensors allow the robot to interact with its environment:
-
Line tracking sensor for path-following activities
-
Sonar sensor for obstacle detection and distance-based behavior
These sensors enable students to create programs that respond dynamically to real-world conditions.
Expandable Robotics System
The Aluminum Robot is designed as a flexible robotics platform that can support additional attachments and accessories. Optional add-ons, such as the ball-launching cannon attachment, allow students to extend the robot’s capabilities and explore new mechanical and programming challenges.
