K-2-ETS1.2. Develop a simple sketch, drawing, or physical model to illustrate how the shape of an object helps it function as needed to solve a given problem.

Students will engage in projects that require them to go through the engineering design process to design their work of art they will be creating.

3-5-ETS1-1. Define a simple design problem reflecting a need or a want that includes specified criteria for success and constraints on materials, time, or cost.

Students will work on building different projects and work on fixing any problem that may surface as they are bringing their art to life.

VA:Cr1.1.1a Use multiple approaches to being creative endeavors.

Through their creative process, students will experiment with various techniques to convey their originality.

VA: Cr2.1.1a Engage in making a work of art or design without having a preconceived plan.

Students will be given tasks and materials to complete a work of art with their choice of design and creative freedom.

VA: Cn10.1.1a Document the process of developing ideas from early stages to fully elaborated ideas.

Students will begin their projects by designing their layout and then begin developing. After the development they will do trial and error.

VA:Cr1.1.7a Apply methods to overcome creative blocks.

Students will explore different approaches to create so that they are able to find new approaches to designing.

VA: Cr2.1.7a Demonstrate persistence in developing skills with various materials, methods, and approaches in creating works of art or design.

Students will actively engage in various projects that will allow them to develop skills and work collaboratively to create artistic pieces using the engineering process.

VA: Cr1.2.5a Identify and demonstrate diverse methods of artistic investigation to choose an approach for beginning a work of art.

Students will engage in creating a concept for their sculpture and carry out an investigation to find the best way to create a stable art sculpture.
