VA:Cr1.1.Ka Engage in exploration and imaginative play with materials.

Students will explore using various materials throughout the course to engage in creating tools that animators use.

VA: Cr1.2.Ka Engage Collaboratively in creative art-making in response to an artistic problem.

Students will work collaboratively to solve problems that come up as they are working on creating Gifs and hands on projects.

VA: Cr2.1.Ka Through experimentation, build skills in various media and approaches to artmaking.

Students will generate various stills using different media approaches to bring to life their animation.

VA: Pr4.1.6a Analyze similarities and differences associated with preserving and presenting two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and digital artwork.

Students will be exposed to 2D gifs and 3D gifs and compare similarities and differences.

VA: Cr1.2.1a Use observation and investigation in preparation for making a work of art.

In animation, students will learn through scaffolding the step of how to create different animation projects and then create their own projects.

VA: Cn10.1.2a Create works of art about events in home, school, or community life.

Students will incorporate their life into projects they are creating to create personalized Gifs and animations.

VA: Cr2.1.6a Demonstrate openness in trying new ideas, materials, methods, and approaches in making works of art and design.

Students will be introduced to new tools weekly to create more advanced designs as they progress in the course.

VA: Pr4.1.7a Compare and contrast how technologies have changed the way artwork is preserved, presented and experienced.

Students will evaluate how animation has changed over the years and discuss as a class the change they noticed.

K-2.CS.1 Select and operate computing devices that perform a variety of tasks accurately and quickly based on user needs and preferences.

Students will use electronic devices to create works of art. Students will navigate their device to access the program along with being able to perform tasks to complete their artwork.
