Students will engage in painting on different canvases as well as different painting mediums.

Students will be exposed to nature and creatively recreate what they saw in their environment.
VA: Re8.1.Ka Interpret art by identifying subject matter and describing relevant details.
Students will create projects with a main subject area and relevant backgrounds to match the style of art they are learning.

Students will observe artist works weekly to prepare for their artwork they will make matching the style of art they observed.
VA: Re7.2.1a Compare images that represent the same subject.
Students will compare artwork weekly amongst peers and discuss the images.
VA: Re7.2.8a Compare and contrast contexts and media in which viewers encounter images that influence ideas, emotions, and actions.
Students will create images using colors to represent their emotions. Students will collaboratively conversate about their paintings and choice of colors.
VA: Cr2.1.6a Demonstrate openness in trying new ideas, materials, methods, and approaches in making works of art and design.
Students will be exposed to new art mediums weekly to create different works of art.
VA: Cn11.1.6a Analyze how art reflects changing times, traditions, resources, and cultural uses.
Students will create art from different time periods and cultures.
VA: Cr3.1.4a Revise artwork in progress on the basis of insights gained through peer discussion.
Students will reflect on their artwork weekly and have time to self reflect on their art. During this process they will make any necessary changes.
